Erik ten Hag reveals half-time talks that inspired Manchester United comeback win vs Omonia

Erik ten Hag has revealed what he said to his Manchester United players in the dressing room at half-time during the clash against Omonia.

Although Man United performed well in the first half, they somehow trailed 1-0 to Omonia at half-time following an error from Tyrell Malacia.

Ten Hag told the players during the break they need to make more runs in the second half because he felt his players were too static in the first 45 minutes.

As a result, he made two changes at the break. Tyrell Malacia and Jadon Sancho made ways for Luke Shaw and Marcus Rashford respectively.

The game’s momentum changed and Manchester United scored three goals to turn the game around in their favour.

After the win, Ten Hag said: “We started well, [created] a couple of chances. Then, unnecessary mistake, it cannot happen, you have to take responsibility there. Then a really bad 10 minutes, we have to learn from that.

“A couple of things [were said at half-time], especially more runs. We were too static. We have to make the opposite movement to get behind and that’s also why we made two subs.

“Luke [Shaw], Marcus [Rashford] definitely, but also Anthony Martial [looked sharp]. I think the subs really had an impact today. That’s really good and makes the team stronger.”

Manchester United will embark on another away game when they face Everton at the Goodison Park on Sunday evening in the Premier League.

Ten Hag said: “It has to be only a warm up, on Sunday [vs Everton] we have to react and give the best performance we have. We have to prepare that now.”
