Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag believes that Diogo Dalot and Antony will collaborate well at Old Trafford because both of them speak Portuguese fluently.
Man United signed Antony from Ajax this summer and the 22-year-old made his full debut against Arsenal on Sunday and scored the opener to help Manchester United beat the Gunners 3-1 at the Theatre of Dreams in the Premier League.
Antony is expected to play more in the right-wing and will have Diogo Dalot as his full-back and both will try to team up and help United dominate and cause havoc against opponents.
Ten Hag revealed that both players held talks before their game against Arsenal and said their collaboration will be good as they both speak Portuguese.
“It’s Antony’s first time on the team, although he and [Diogo] Dalot sat together before the game to talk about their collaboration,” Erik ten Hag told Viaplay Football. “They filled it out well. The advantage is that they both speak Portuguese, so communication is good in that regard.
“Of course he [Antony] had nerves for this match [against Arsenal], but healthy nerves. He can perform very well under stress and we have seen that.”
Manchester United will return to action on Thursday night when they host Real Sociedad in the Europa League.
Three days later, United will take a trip to Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace and that could be another chance for Dalot and Antony to improve their on-pitch relationship.
