Erik ten Hag reacts to Manchester United’s 2-1 win at Fulham

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag was pleased with his side’s performance against Fulham, although noted that the hosts were dominant in the second half.

Man United secured a hard-fought 2-1 win over Fulham at the Craven Cottage to ensure they head into the international break with a win.

Christian Eriksen opened the scoring in the first half and provided the assist to Alejandro Garnacho’s match-winning goal in the last minute of the game to turn Daniel James’ midway through the second half’s goal into a consolation goal for the hosts.

United had some decent chance to kill the game off before Fulham equalised and that’s where Erik ten Hag felt Manchester United didn’t capitalise that gave the Cottagers the room to dominate the second half.

Speaking after the game, the Dutchman said: “I think in the first half we played quite well and I think we had to score more goals. The difference between us and Fulham had to be bigger after the first half.

“We were only 1-0 up and then a great chance after half-time. And then you see that two halves are never the same and the game changes. Fulham get better and better and more dominant, create chances and get the equaliser.

“The winning has to do with the belief that you can always score. I’m really happy that a sub came in once again – it’s not only 11 players, you need a squad to win trophies and that is what we want.”
