Erik ten Hag reacts to Chelsea decision to sack Thomas Tuchel

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag suggests Chelsea went too quick to relieve Thomas Tuchel of his managerial duty at Cobham.

Chelsea announced on Thursday morning that they have sacked their German manager, Tuchel, after their 1-0 loss to Dinamo Zagreb on Tuesday night in the Champions League.

The Blues, who spent over £250million this summer on signing players, have struggled this season, having lost 3-0 to Leeds United in the Premier League and 1-0 to the Croatian side in the European competition, although they managed unconvinced wins over Leicester City and West Ham United.

Many have claimed that the decision to relieve Tuchel of his duty is harsh, and United boss has suggested that the Blues should have given the former PSG boss more time to arrest his side’s poor start to the season.

Speaking ahead of United’s game against Real Sociedad, he said of Tuchel’s sacking: “I feel sorry, but there is nothing I can say. It’s Chelsea, not Manchester United — It’s early in the season, yes.”
