Erik ten Hag reacts to Arsenal test, Jadon Sancho display, Antony debut

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag was pleased with Jadon Sancho’s display against Leicester City as he confirmed Arsenal’s clash is a huge test.

Man United maintained their momentum when they beat Leicester 1-0 at King Power on Thursday night to climb to 5th position in the Premier League.

Jadon Sancho scored the match-winning goal early in the first half after he got the total benefit of Marcus Rashford’s one-time pass.

Sancho has scored twice in the league so far and the Dutchman has said that he is pleased with the winger’s performance against the Foxes tonight.

“I am really happy for Jadon Sancho,” Ten Hag said of Sancho’s display. “He scored many in pre-season and put a low of investment in, now he is getting his rewards.

“He had quite a good pre-season, he understands he has to invest physically. That’s what he did. This is just the start for him. With his potential there is much more room for improvement. He can be even more important.”

Although Manchester United have faced and beat Liverpool, Erik ten Hag says United’s next game against Arsenal is a ‘real’ test.

The Gunners are the only team with 100% win record in the Premier League this season so far, although they are yet to play any of the top six sides.

Speaking about the rivalry game on Sunday, the Dutch tactician said: “That is the real test for us, we are looking forward to it. We have to be good, we know that and it is a good test to see where we are.”

Antony has completed his transfer on Thursday but wasn’t part of the squad that beat Leicester City on Thursday night.

The winger is obviously in contention to feature against the Gunners this weekend but Erik ten Hag refuses to confirm whether or not the former Ajax winger will be in his squad for the clash.

When asked whether Antony will play against Arsenal, Ten Hag told BBC: “We will see for Sunday.

“Of course I am really excited, a really good signing. He will bring temperament, creativity, fighting spirit and we need quality in numbers in the offensive department.”
