Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag said Antony did well against Arsenal but conceded that he can do better.
Antony made his debut for Man United on Sunday evening against the Gunners after he completed his late transfer to Old Trafford from Ajax in a transfer fee that could rise to €100million.
Erik ten Hag raised my eye-brows when he decided to drop Anthony Elanga to hand the former Ajax forward his full debut, given that he hasn’t trained well with his new team-mates but the Brazilian did not disappoint his boss.
The 22-year-old scored the opener against Arsenal in the first half, to which Ten Hag believes was a great goal.
Ten Hag told Sky Sports: “He [Antony] did well but I think he can do better, he had a great goal but all the goals were team goals.
“I know what threat he can be. We needed that off the right wing, his pace, his dribbles, his expression. He lacks a little bit of power because he missed some trainings. But you can see his potential.”
Bukayo Saka equalised Antony’s goal in the second half but two goals from Marcus Rashford afterwards, sealed the win for Manchester United.
United recorded their fourth win in a row but at the same time, handed Mikel Arteta his first loss in the Premier League, after he had won his opening five league games.
