Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has lifted the lid on the signings he would love to welcome at Old Trafford this summer.

Man United may have completed the signing of Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord but Ten Hag still believes his major signings are yet to be finalised.

Manchester United are close to completing the signing of free agent Christian Eriksen, with several reporters claiming the midfielder could undergo his Man United medical this week.

Frenkie de Jong is also a transfer target for Erik ten Hag but Barcelona are reluctant to slash their asking price for the Netherlands international, hence making the deal too hard for United to complete.

Ten Hag has confirmed that he wants more signings in the midfield and the attacking departments, although he claimed that Cristiano Ronaldo is not for sale.

“We want to have the right players,” Ten Hag said about new signings. “We have a really good squad, we’re working on developing our way of play and if the opportunity is there, we will strike.

“We are definitely searching for players in the midfield, and players in offence.

“I never talk about players who are not under contract at Manchester United, players at different clubs. I cannot tell you anything about this issue.”

Cristiano Ronaldo is obviously looking for a new club after he told Manchester United not to stand in his way if clubs come calling for his signature.

Although the five-time Ballon d’Or winner isn’t with his Man United team-mates in Thailand for pre-season due to family issues, Ten Hag maintains that the 37-year-old remains in his plans.

On Ronaldo’s situation, the Dutchman said: “So he’s not with us. That’s due to personal issues — we are planning with Ronaldo for this season, that’s it. I’m looking forward to working with him.

“I spoke to him [Ronaldo] before this issue came up. We had a really good talk.”
