Erik ten Hag makes Cody Gakpo decision ahead of January transfer

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has reportedly made PSV midfielder Cody Gakpo his priority when the transfer window reopens in January.

Man United showed strong interest in Gakpo over the summer but they fell short in their attempt to lure him out of PSV after they spent €100million on the transfer of Antony from Ajax.

The Dutch international admitted earlier this season that he thought he would end up at Old Trafford following the conversations he had with Ten Hag but was left disappointed after the deal failed to materialise.

However, his dream move to the Theatre of Dreams could be around the corner as Foot Mercato reported that Ten Hag has made him his winter transfer priority.

United are obviously going to search for at least one attacker in January following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo.

The report claims that PSV will only let Cody Gakpo leave in January if the player’s suitors offer a transfer fee of around €60million.

The 23-year-old wants to play for Manchester United but his dream entirely depends on United reaching an agreement with PSV for his signature.

Gakpo scored a goal to help the Netherlands beat Senegal 2-0 to start their 2022 FIFA Qatar World Cup with a win.
