Erik ten Hag keen on selling Cristiano Ronaldo but Manchester United chief Joel Glazer is refusing

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has reportedly tried to sell Cristiano Ronaldo this summer but so far, Joel Glazer has resisted any chance of seeing the legendary player leave the club, according to reports.

Man United resigned Ronaldo from Juventus last summer in a bid to advance Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s chances of winning trophies at the club but his return has done more harms than good, according to several United fans.

Solskjaer got sacked a few months after Cristiano Ronaldo returned to the club but his departure didn’t improve the mood at the club, with his temporary successor, Ralf Rangnick, failing to take United back into the top four at least.

It was also suggested that Rangnick, who was appointed in November, advised Manchester United to get rid of Ronaldo in January in a bid to sign a younger striker that would suit in his philosophy but the club chiefs declined and as a result, the German tactician guided United to a 6th placed finish in the Premier League.

Erik ten Hag during his first interviews as Man United boss initially claimed that Cristiano Ronaldo was part of his plans at United but the 37-year-old couldn’t care less and urged his agent to search for a new club that would participate in the Champions League.

Ronaldo’s uncertain future has obviously affected the dressing room and his decision not to join the club for their far East and Australia tour in July also spoke volume about how he rates Manchester United.

His attitude under Erik ten Hag has been alarming and the Portuguese forward did not only leave the stadium at half-time during United’s friendly against Rayo Vallecano after being substituted at half-time but has also been reported to be flapping his hands about during training sessions, in a bid to sway Ten Hag into dumping his tactics and play to his strength. He also did not stay behind to apologise to the Manchester United fans who travelled to Brentford to witness The Bees beat United 4-0, even though he was confronted by Ten Hag’s assistant Steve McClaren to stay on the pitch and apologise to the fans.

Erik ten Hag is reportedly fed up with Cristiano Ronaldo’s antics and reports emerged this week that Manchester United are ready to terminate his contract if his attitude isn’t improved.

However, recent report from MEN claim that Erik ten Hag has been open to selling the forward for weeks but hasn’t been successful because Joel Glazer, one of United’s owners, has gone against the idea.

The same report claims that Ronaldo’s partner Georgina Rodríguez is believed to favour a return to Spain in the benefits of their family.

The former Ajax boss manager was promised that he would have a huge say in Manchester United transfer business but what Joel Glazer has reportedly done with the Ronaldo situation shows United owners are not fulfilling the promises they made with the Dutchman. Just as they had treated his predecessors.

Ten Hag becomes the next United manager that wants to get rid of the former Real Madrid forward after Rangnick obviously tried to boot him out of the club early this year.

Ten Hag is planning on signing two attacking players this summer and the likes of Cody Gakpo of PSV and Atletico Madrid forward Matheus Cunha have been linked with moves to Old Trafford and also, he expects either signing to be Ronaldo’s replacement.
