Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has confirmed that Anthony Martial will miss the Tottenham game but Christian Eriksen has a chance to feature.
Martial came off injured in the first half against Everton with what Ten Hag described as a lower back injury and predicted he wouldn’t be out injured for a long time.
Christian Eriksen missed United’s last game against Newcastle United through an illness. And like every Manchester United fan, Erik ten Hag admitted his absence was missed.
The Denmark international is racing against time to be fit to face against his former club but should he lose the battle, Ten Hag will have to pick either Scott McTominay, who is available for selection after he missed last weekend’s game with one match suspension, or Fred to pair alongside Casemiro. Fred did that last time out against the Magpies and was heavily criticised for his poor contributions.
Speaking about Manchester United team news, Ten Hag said: “Anthony Martial is not available. [With Christian] Eriksen, we have to wait. He was just on the pitch. We have to see how he recovers from that and then we will make a decision tomorrow.”
The Dutchman has also revealed that Harry Maguire and Donny van de Beek will return to training this week. Maguire suffered a muscle injury whilst on international duty against Germany in September.
“They’re [Harry Maguire and Van de Beek] making good progress and will return to team training this week.,” said Ten Hag.
On Brandon Williams and Axel Tuanzebe, the Dutchman added: “I see good progress from Brandon [Williams], Axel [Tuanzebe] is still working in side and is not back on the pitch. I think it will be difficult for Axel to return before Christmas. Brandon not available for games but back in training.”
