Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has issued an injury update on Raphael Varane and also reacted to the draw at Chelsea.
Man United were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge following late goals from Jorginho [pen] and Casemiro.
Early in the second half, Varane was replaced by Victor Lindelof due to an injury and Ten Hag has suggested that they need time to access the Frenchman before knowing the length of the injury.
“It is difficult to say how it is now because it is so soon after the game. We have to wait 24 hours and then we will know what it is,” Ten Hag told BBC.
“I think he’s calmed down. He has to wait to see what it [injury] is. He can’t tell, the medical staff can’t tell, we have to wait for the assessments and that takes time, minimum 24 hours.”
Manchester United were obviously the better team, most notably in the first half where they created the best chances of the game.
Despite United’s dominance, Ten Hag believes a draw was a fair result and also slammed his attackers for missing big chances.
“I think it is a fair result,” Ten Hag added. “I would have been disappointed if we had gone without a point because we didn’t deserve that. At the end of a tough week to come here, you bring the point home.
“It was a good game, two teams close together, but in the first half we dominated the game. That’s why the opponent changed their system. Second half was even and in the end, I think, a point is justified.”
