Erik ten Hag hopes Casemiro does it at Manchester United

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag hopes Casemiro alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and Raphael Varane can help guide the younger players into believing they can win trophies.

Man United signed Casemiro from Real Madrid last week but the midfielder arrived at Old Trafford on Monday night and was unveiled at half-time during the game against between Manchester United and Liverpool.

The midfielder is expected to be an integral part of Erik ten Hag’s squad and the Dutchman has not only hailed him as a leader but also hopes his experience would inspire the younger players.

Casemiro has won five Champions League titles with Real Madrid and several top honours including the La Liga title.

Speaking about his new signing, Ten Hag said: “We were talking about leadership? Today we had leadership on the pitch, but he is one as well. He [Casemiro] knows the game, he knows how to win – in his career he’s won so many trophies, and that’s important.

Raphael Varane has it [trophies], with Casemiro and another one with Ronaldo has it – you need some guidance for young players who haven’t achieved this until now as that is want we want to achieve with trophies.”

Erik ten Hag on Casemiro, Varane and Ronaldo: “I hope their presence will be a huge stimulation to the rest [of the Manchester United squad].”
