Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has confirmed that Harry Maguire trained with the team on Friday but Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez are not yet back.
Man United will host Nottingham Forest on Tuesday in what will be their first Premier League game since their 2-1 win over Fulham away from home in November.
The Red Devils continued from where they left off with a comfortable 2-0 win over Burnley at Old Trafford on Wednesday last week in the round of 16 of the Carabao Cup.
And Harry Maguire missed the game due to an illness while Martinez and Varane were absent because they were still on their World Cup holidays.
However, it’s increasingly likely that the England international would be part of the squad to face Nottingham Forest on Tuesday and Martinez and Varane are doubts for the trip.
Speaking ahead of the fixture, the Dutchman said: “The World Cup players are back [apart from Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez] and you can feel their energy and that they are excited.
“They are looking forward to [the Premier League] resuming.”
The former Ajax manager added: “Harry Maguire was back on the training ground on Friday, so I’m happy about that.
“Rapha Varane and Licha Martinez aren’t back yet but hopefully they’ll be back soon.”
