Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has confirmed that Raphael Varane has been training separately from the squad ahead of the Omonia clash on Thursday.
Varane missed Man United’s 3-2 win over Omonia in the reverse fixture last week after suffering a foot injury in the first half against Manchester City last two weekends.
The World Cup winner made an injury-time cameo against Everton last weekend and made a notable display that helped United return to Old Trafford with all three points.
Ten Hag has said the former Real Madrid defender has been training alone, which hints he could decide to rest him against Omonia, in a bid to have him fresh and energised to start against Newcastle United this weekend.

The Dutchman also confirmed that Marcus Rashford will train with the team but Harry Maguire is ruled out of the game against Omonia.
Ten Hag also suggested that Anthony Martial will miss the game after the Frenchman came off injured midway through the first half against Everton.
“Of course, I want him [Anthony Martial] in, sometimes it’s disappointing when they aren’t available because I know we need him,” Erik ten Hag said. “When they aren’t, you have to deal with the situation.”
