Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has suggested that Anthony Martial will feature against Omonia on Thursday in the Europa League.
Man United need a reaction after last weekend’s 6-3 defeat to city rivals Manchester City at the Etihad and they have a decent chance to achieve that against Omonia tonight in Cyprus.
Anthony Martial has only made two appearances this season under Ten Hag and both were second half impressive performances against Liverpool and Manchester City.
The Frenchman came on late in the game against City but scored twice to ease whatever shame Manchester United were enduring at the Etihad.
Martial is yet to make his first start for the Dutchman, although that could change tonight, following Erik ten Hag’s latest comments on the France international.
Speaking ahead of the Europa League group stage clash in Cyprus, the Dutch tactician told MU: “We are happy he’s [Anthony Martial] back.
“But we will take it careful, step by step, in a process to bring him back. He [has] played now almost a half, so 35 minutes, which is good, and now we have to extend that.”
The former Ajax manager also confirmed that he’s likely to field a strong team against Omonia in a bid to prepare a regular team ahead of their upcoming games.
“We will play tomorrow our best team, we have to construct a team because we want a competitive culture,” said Ten Hag. “It had nothing to do with Casemiro, it had all to do with Scott [McTominay].”
