Erik ten Hag asked if he missed Cristiano Ronaldo against Chelsea

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag admits he missed Cristiano Ronaldo but also missed Anthony Martial against Chelsea.

Man United played out a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge on Saturday in the Premier League after a late penalty goal from Jorginho and an injury time header from Casemiro.

The Red Devils were forced to get something off Chelsea without the services of Cristiano Ronaldo after Ten Hag banned him from the Manchester United squad as a result of his action during the Tottenham match.

Ronaldo stormed down the tunnel late in the game after he had declined a chance to come on against Tottenham and the Dutchman took the necessary action against the Portuguese star.

Manchester United created loads of chances against the Blues but the likes of Antony and Marcus Rashford missed some big chances that made many including Roy Keane believing Cristiano Ronaldo would have scored them.

Anthony Martial the game due to a lower back injury he suffered against Everton early this month and Ten Hag admitted he missed the Frenchman’s services against Chelsea.

The Dutch tactician was asked if it was frustrating not to have Ronaldo at his disposal against Chelsea: “We don’t have [Anthony] Martial. We don’t have Cristiano. Two offensive players that scored the most goals.

“So you miss them but we had to do it [leaving Cristiano Ronaldo out] as club standards in the long term are more important. To set the right culture and the team process you need to control the standards and values.”

Manchester United have managed 20 points from their opening 11 Premier League matches and are only three points off 3rd spot [Tottenham].
