David de Gea has raved about Casemiro after the midfielder helped Manchester United beat Everton on Sunday night.
Man United needed to bounce back to winning ways, having lost 6-3 to Manchester City at the Etihad last time out and they eventually did that at Everton, although it wasn’t an easy win.
Alex Iwobi scored the opener early in the game to make things hard for Manchester United but the Red Devils responded quickly following first half goals from Antony and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Everton had some late chances to get salvage the game but United were resilience and kept out the Toffees out.
Casemiro, who joined Manchester United from Real Madrid over the summer, made his first Premier League start on Sunday night and capped it off with an assist and a man of the match performance.
David de Gea has explained the importance of having the Brazil international, whose transfer fee could rise to €70million, in the squad.
When asked about what the 30-year-old brings to the team, De Gea, who made an injury time top save to deny James Garner a late equaliser, said: “His [Casemiro] experience. His immense experience.
“He has won everything. He is calm on the pitch even after the mistake on the first goal. He wins balls all the time. He helps the club a lot. crew.”
David de Gea joined Manchester United in 2011 from Atletico Madrid and has been United’s first choice goalkeeper for over a decade.
He is two matches shy from 500 club appearances at the Theatre of Dreams after he made his 498th appearance at Goodison Park on Sunday but the 31-year-old said still finds it a privilege to be at the club.
“Two games away from 500 appearances for Manchester United? It’s an honor to be here, it’s a privilege to be in this team. It was great to be in goal today, with the team fighting for three points,” said De Gea.
