David de Gea made unnoticed world-class save to deny Luis Diaz during Liverpool clash

A Twitter user has posted a video of a world-class save David de Gea made during the Manchester United clash against Liverpool.

Man United ended their horrible start to the Premier League season when they secured a hard-fought 2-1 win over Liverpool on Monday night. United had lost to Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford at home and away respectively.

Jadon Sancho scored the opener early in the first half. Shortly after the second half, Marcus Rashford doubled United’s lead after a beautiful pass from Anthony Martial.

Although Sancho and Rashford got on the scoresheet for the Red Devils, it was widely agreed that United’s win was down to a collective performance, thanks to their relentless fighting spirit.

Lisandro Martinez, Tyrell Malacia and Raphael Varane got the spotlights for masterminding the win, well-deservedly, but there was a moment that could have changed the game entirely but David de Gea came to the rescue.

The Spaniard, who was poor against Brentford last two weekends, pulled off a world-class save to deny Luis Diaz from scoring in the second half.

It’s understandable if you didn’t see the save while watching the game outside of Old Trafford because the action was not replayed but after a closer look at the moment, De Gea’s tip of his boot blocked Diaz’s close-range effort that was heading into the back of the net.

If that had gone in, the game could have taken a different shape, although Manchester United could have easily scored four goals in the game.

Anthony Elanga was denied by the bar early in the first half from a goal-scoring opportunity.
