Manchester United shot-stopper David de Gea has heaped praise on Mary Earps, current Manchester United Women’s goalkeeper, and former goalie, Siobhan Chamberlain.
Earps is regarded as one of the finest goalkeepers in the Women’s Super League, thanks to her ability to play from the back, flexibility to stop shots, and leadership skills.
The 29-year-old helped the England Lionesses win the 2022 Euro over the summer and has carried that form into the current season and the Manchester United Women currently occupy the 2nd position in the Women’s Super League.
David de Gea is pleased with Mary Earps’ form and confirmed that he’s trying as much as he can to watch the Manchester United Women in action.
“We talk after the games, say congrats, and I think she’s doing very well,” De Gea said on the latest episode of the UTD Podcast.
“She’s keeping a lot of clean sheets. We talk about clean sheets all the time; she’s doing really well.
“She won the Euro cup with England [and] she’s playing really, really well. I’m trying to watch as much as I can, the women’s team, I think they’re doing really well this season.”
David de Gea also reserved special praise for former Manchester United Women shot-stopper Siobhan Chamberlain.
“She’s really nice,” he said. “I met her when she was at Manchester as well.
“[She’s] a top keeper and now she’s on the TV. She’s great. She was really good as a goalkeeper and she’s really, really nice.”
