Cody Gakpo speaks out on Manchester United interest, reacts to Antony to Utd report

PSV forward Cody Gakpo admitted that Manchester United interest is a ‘serious option’, as he played down Antony’s potential move to Old Trafford.

Man United are keen on signing two forwards this summer after Cristiano Ronaldo made it clear that he wants out.

The Red Devils have been linked with moves to sign Antony and Gakpo from Ajax and PSV respectively but there are reports claiming that United have cooled their interest in the latter.

Reports emerged on Sunday morning that all parties involved in the Antony to Manchester United deal have agreed on negotiations at around a €100 million fee. The deal is said to be in an advanced stage.

Should Antony join Man United and Cristiano Ronaldo stay beyond this season, United could eventually drop their interest in Cody Gakpo but the winger has claimed the prospect of it happening doesn’t bother him.

Speaking to De Telegraaf, Gakpo said on Antony moving to Man United influencing his choice regarding a transfer: “No, that doesn’t matter to me. Nice for him, anyway.”

On the speculation from Old Trafford, he said: “There are also other options, [but] Manchester United are a serious option. I can hear it all. I try to shut myself off from it, but it’s difficult.”
