Christian Eriksen has warned Manchester United about three ‘very good’ players at Brentford ahead of their Premier League clash on Saturday.
Man United are back in action this weekend when they face The Bees away from home and will be looking to improve from their last performance.
Pascal Gross scored twice in the first half but United forced off an own-goal from Mac Allister late in the second half after Erik ten Hag’s tactical changes improved their performance in the second half.
Eriksen spent the second half of last season at Brentford after he successfully recovered from a heart issue that kept him off football for nearly two years.
The former Tottenham midfielder, who started against Brighton as a false 9 last weekend, knows the threats Brentford have and names about three players who can hurt The Red Devils including Ivan Toney, who scored against The Reds last season.
“They have some very good players,” Eriksen told MU. “Ivan Toney is very good. David [Raya] has been very good, [Christian] Norgaard, of the Danish guys. The Danish guys are always good! They have good players in midfield.
On United’s defeat against Brighton, he added: “Of course it was a setback [losing against Brighton], but it’s also a step on the road. We know it’s a long road, a long season, so for us it was not the best start, but there’s only one way to turn that around and that is against Brentford.”
Erik ten Hag has also confirmed again that Christian Eriksen could play another position, having tried him as a false 9 last weekend against Brighton, and heaps praise on Brentford.
“We as a team want to play dynamic so I don’t tell a player you are playing in a position that is really static,” said Ten Hag. “No, it is dynamic and he [Christian Eriksen] is a player who can play in several positions and that’s what we need.”
On what he thinks about The Bees, he added: “They’re a good team with a good structure and you can see they work together. Their style is quite direct and they work for each other. They’re good physically but there are opportunities to win this game and we have to win this game.”
