Chelsea vs Manchester United: Predicted starting lineup - Fred to start?

Manchester United will visit Chelsea on Saturday in the Premier League and below is our predicted starting lineup/IX.

Man United bounced back to winning ways on Wednesday following a resounding 2-0 win over Tottenham that could have ended with four or five goals.

Fred opened the scoring shortly after the second half and midway through after the interval, Bruno Fernandes scored United’s second and last goal against Spurs.

Erik ten Hag started with Fred alongside Casemiro against Tottenham because Christian Eriksen wasn’t fit enough to start, having missed the goalless draw against Newcastle United at Old Trafford last weekend due to illness.

Fred’s performance was great and many fans are expecting him to remain in the team against Chelsea, despite the return of Eriksen from an illness.

It’s understandable as not many managers would like to make a change to a team that outclassed and outplayed a top side but should Ten Hag decide to make a change, it would definitely be Fred.

Cristiano Ronaldo has been ruled out of the game after he was ordered to train alone following his behaviour during the Tottenham game, which means Marcus Rashford is obviously starting against the Blues.
