Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes has revealed the three words Ole Gunnar Solskjaer told him on his first day at Old Trafford.
Man United were in great need of an attacking midfielder, after Paul Pogba was out injured weeks into the 2019/2020 season.
United, who missed the opportunity to sign Fernandes from Sporting in the summer of 2019, eventually signed him in the winter transfer market.
The Portugal international quickly became fans favourites when he helped Manchester United finish 3rd in the Premier League with his goals and assists.
Fernandes has now revealed the three words former United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer told him and the demands he got from the Norwegian.
“On my first day [at Manchester United], he [Ole Gunnar Solskjær] said to me, ‘Just be yourself’. He said, ‘I know what you are capable of with the ball but I also want you to be the leader you have been at Sporting’,” Fernandes told The Athletic.
The 28-year-old midfielder also confirmed that his move to Manchester United was a dream come true and heaped praise on Ole for playing a role in his move to Old Trafford.
“My agent said, ‘You don’t need to worry, because any time I bring you a club, it will be a dream club for you’,” Fernandes added.
Fernandes made his United debut against Wolves, although he went blank, his performance was outstanding, given he had a day of training with his new team-mates.
He got his stats up and running with an assist as United beat Chelsea 2-0 at Stamford Bridge.
