Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes has reacted to his match-winning goal and United’s tight win over Southampton.
Man United needed to improve on the performance against Liverpool at St Mary’s and they eventually did after they sealed a hard-fought 1-0 win at Southampton.
United came close to getting an early breakthrough when they had four shots on targets but a very-much alerted Southampton’s backline was equal to the threats.
Fernandes admitted it was a tough afternoon for Manchester United and a huge win for the Red Devils, who started off their season with two defeats.
“This is the Premier League, every game is tough. It was a massive three points for us, we have to carry on this spirit for the rest of this season. This is what this club demands,” Fernandes told BT Sport.
“After Liverpool, everyone could feel it. We set the standard so we have to carry on now and if we can, improve it.”
“It was a great ball [from Diogo Dalot], even great play from behind,” said Bruno Fernandes. “Everything was perfect. Someone runs, someone gets the space behind. We did it well, so well done to everyone, not just me.”
