Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes says he’s happy Cristiano Ronaldo scored and hails Antony as an ‘amazing’ player after Everton win.
Man United needed to bounce back to winning ways in the Premier League after they succumbed to an embarrassing 6-3 defeat to Manchester City last time out.
And the Red Devils did just that at Everton following a hard-fought 2-1 win over the Toffees, who fought to get the equaliser until the final whistle.
Alex Iwobi opened the scoring with a stunner but Antony scored the equaliser a few minutes later. Cristiano Ronaldo, who replaced injured Anthony Martial, scored United’s match-winning goal with a top left-foot strike.
It was Ronaldo’s first goal from open play this season so far and was his 700th career club goal as well for the 37-year-old.
Fernandes told BT Sport of Cristiano Ronaldo’s display: “Really happy because he [Cristiano Ronaldo] has been working hard to get this goal. Today he got the goal and the win and that is the most important for him, that the team won.”
“It is tough still counting goals for Ronaldo because every week seems like a new record.”
