Bruno Fernandes calls out fans who accuse him of being wasteful

Manchester United ace Bruno Fernandes has called out those fans and pundits who have accused him of giving away sloppy passes.

According to many, Fernandes has been a victim of his own success after he set the bars high during his first two seasons at Man United.

The midfielder quickly won the hearts of many Manchester United fans with his goal contributions during his first months at Old Trafford.

Last season, he underperformed on a regular basis, just as much as his team-mates, which eventually resulted in Man United finishing in the 6th position in the Premier League.

It’s as though if Fernandes doesn’t score or assist, fans would slam his poor passing accuracy regardless of how he performed and somewhat try to lay the team’s poor performances on his shoulders.

However, when he provides goal contributions, these fans tend to pay less attention to his passing accuracy, regardless, as though it doesn’t matter as long as he scores or assists.

But the Portuguese star is worried about how people change their stance on him depending on the results and suggests fans are only concerned about his goal contributions regardless of his performances.

And he’s somewhat tried to urge the fans to judge him based on his performances over all and not just his goals and assists.

The 28-year-old told The Athletic: “During the first two games [this season], I had a high pass accuracy and nobody talked about that because we lost the games. But Bruno did not assist, Bruno did not score. So, problems!

“When I scored against Southampton, I had a low pass accuracy and not my best game. But because I scored, it was like, ‘Ooh, Bruno did a great game’.”

Fernandes wasn’t effective in the game against the Saints but scored the only goal that handed Manchester United a tight 1-0 win over Southampton away from home.
