Barcelona vs Manchester United: Xavi Hernandez reacts to Europa League knockout play-off draw

Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez has described the Europa League knockout play-off draw against Manchester United as the ‘worst’ draw his side could have got.

Man United finished 2nd in Group E of the Europa League after they failed to beat Real Sociedad by a two-goal margin last week Thursday.

Barcelona got relegated from the Champions League after they finished 3rd behind Bayern Munich and Inter Milan in the group stage.

Both historic clubs are drawn against each other in the Europa League knockout play-off and only one will go through to the round of 16.

Xavi has described Manchester United as a ‘difficult’ opponent but claims Barcelona are looking forward to the challenge that will take place in February.

“It is the most difficult opponent once again,” Xavi said after knowing Barcelona’s Europa League fate. “But we will look forward to it.

“They are a historic side, they have grown a lot with Ten Hag, they have great players. It’s the worst draw we could have got. Once again. No luck.”
