Manchester United have confirmed the signing of Casemiro from Real Madrid but which shirt number would he don at Old Trafford for this season?
Man United could pay as much as €70million to Real for the Brazilian international after he agreed to dump the La Liga side to sign a four-year deal with the Red Devils. He also has the option to extend it by further 12 months.
His signing would become Erik ten Hag’s fourth signing after Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez.
Malacia wears the No.12 shirt, Eriksen takes over from Jesse Lingard as United’s new No.14 while Martinez succeeds Paul Pogba’s jersey no.6.
Throughout his career, Casemiro has wore several shirt numbers no.6, no.8, no.28, no.18, no.14 and no.14, his latest shirt number while at Real Madrid.
One of Casemiro’s previous numbers is available at Manchester United – the no.18, which was previously donned by Bruno Fernandes before taking over from Juan Mata.
Jersey numbers 15 and 21 previously donned by Andreas Periera and Daniel James respectively are currently available for a grab, although fans thought the latter was preserved by Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong, who was a transfer target for the Red Devils.
The 30-year-old could also choose from no.30 to no.32 as they are also available.
