AS Monaco wants Manchester United defender Eric Bailly on loan with option to buy

AS Monaco are reportedly planning on signing Manchester United defender Eric Bailly on loan, according to reports in France.

Man United are obviously going to listen to offers for Bailly, after the recruitment of Lisandro Martinez from Ajax this summer.

The Ivorian defender has interest from Italy, with the likes of Napoli, AC Milan and AS Roma all linked with a move to lure the former Villarreal defender.

However, the 28-year-old hasn’t agreed to join any team at the moment but there are suggestions that the centre-half wouldn’t be at United this season.

According to L’Equipe via Get French Football News (GFFN), Ligue 1 outfits AS Monaco are interested in signing Eric Bailly from Manchester United on a temporary deal with an option to buy.

It remains to be seen whether Man United would eventually listen to loan offers from Bailly’s suitors or stand firm on their stance on wanting only deals that would see the Ivory Coast international leave The Red Devils permanently.

Bailly didn’t feature as much as he would have loved last season and Manchester United thwarted any chance of him fighting his way back into the starting lineup following the signing of Martinez, as stated earlier.

Both Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez started at the back on the opening day of the Premier League but lost 2-1 to Brighton and Hove Albion.

Maguire spoke about his first time pairing alongside Martinez and conceded that they would need more time to learn about their similarities and differences.

Speaking after the defeat, Maguire said: “Me and Licha [Martínez] have not played much together and were not on the same wavelength at times. I am sure we will get better and keep clean sheets.”
