Antony: "I'll always give 100 per cent, whether I score or not"

Antony has vowed that he will always give his 100 per cent for Manchester United, regardless of whether he gets on the scoreboard or not.

Man United signed Antony from Ajax over the summer and the Brazilian has seemingly settled in well at Old Trafford.

The Brazil international scored on his debut against Arsenal as Manchester United won that fixture 3-1 at Old Trafford in September. He scored in his second Premier League appearance against Manchester City but unfortunately, the tie ended in a horrible 6-3 defeat for United last weekend.

Antony impressed for Man United as the Red Devils came from behind to beat Omonia 3-2 in Cyprus on Thursday evening in the Europa League.

The 22-year-old, who has been decent, has promised that he will always give his best regardless of whether he gets a goal or not.

Antony reminisced on his debut against Arsenal and said again that he felt happy to score on his Manchester United debut.

Speaking to Premier League Production ahead of Man United’s trip to Everton on Sunday, he said: “Before training, I watched a video with the players. I started studying the Arsenal team. I was thinking about where the space would be, if I came on for 15 or 20 minutes, and to play intelligently.

“The manager put me in the starting XI, so I trained even harder. I saw it was my time and was really happy to have the opportunity to play and start the game [vs Arsenal] after just a few days.

“I prepared and fought through the game and, thank God, it all worked out and I scored a goal. But the most important thing was that the team won.”

Antony has played four matches for Manchester United since his summer arrival from Ajax but he’s yet to provide an assist, which isn’t an issue for now, is it?

But the youngster has claimed that he’s ready to put his individual stats behind as he looks to put the club first.

The winger also confirmed that he made about 15 shots in training before scoring against Manchester City with one strike.

“I’ve always worked very hard and the results are a consequence of this. I’ll always give 100 per cent, regardless of whether I score or not,” he added.

“It was nice to score another goal [at Manchester City] though, unfortunately, we lost the game. I was training that shot the day before the game.

“I hit about 10 to 15 balls and, thankfully, I was able to score the goal [vs City]. Now it’s time to prepare and train more, correct mistakes, move in the right direction and achieve great things.”

Manchester United will face Everton on Sunday away from home in the Premier League and Antony is increasingly likely to start for the Red Devils.

United need a reaction in the league, having lost heavily 6-3 last time out.
