Antony gives Cristiano Ronaldo nickname after Manchester United debut vs Arsenal

Manchester United new signing Antony has described Cristiano Ronaldo as a ‘giant’ after making way for the Portuguese legend against Arsenal.

Man United signed Antony from Ajax in a transfer deal that could rise to €100million due to on-pitch performances, made his full debut against the Gunners on Sunday in the Premier League.

The Brazilian wasted no time to get on the score sheet for Manchester United when he scored the opener against Mikel Arteta’s men.

The 22-year-old, who started in the place of Anthony Elanga, was replaced by Cristiano Ronaldo in the 58th minute.

Antony took to Instagram to laud the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, and made his intention on the forward clear.

He said: “You are a giant, what an honour Cristiano Ronaldo to play by your side.”

Erik ten Hag has previously hailed the Portugal international as a ‘giant‘ during one of his first interviews as Manchester United boss.

The Red Devils would go on to win the game 3-1 over Arsenal to close in on the Gunners, who are currently at the top of the table with 15 points.

Manchester United are fifth in the table with 12 points, having won their last four games to put their dreadful two defeats to Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford behind them.
