Adrien Rabiot speaks out after collapsed Manchester United transfer

Adrien Rabiot has claimed that his decision to remain at Juventus after his failed move to Manchester United was the ‘best’ choice.

Man United showed strong interest in luring the Frenchman out of Juve over the summer as they were in dire need of a new defensive midfielder after they succumbed to the fact that Frenkie de Jong wasn’t interested in leaving Barcelona for a team participating in the Europa League.

Manchester United had agreed a transfer fee with Juventus but failed to reach an agreement with the player as the agent, Rabiot’s mother, was demanding for a lucrative salary.

United weren’t convinced the former PSG midfielder was good enough to command such demand, hence they walked out of the deal and turned their attention to Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro.

Manchester United eventually lured the Brazilian away from Real in a transfer deal that could rise to €70m and many Man United fans described the deal as a ‘massive upgrade’ from Rabiot to a five-time Champions League winner.

Speaking to La Gazzetta on his failed move to United, he said: “It’s true, I had a chance to try Premier League experience; but staying at Juventus was the best choice.

“I don’t think about future, I’m not in a rush about my contract [expiring in 2023]”

Casemiro has been brilliant for Manchester United since his arrival while Juve have struggled this season so far and will play in the Europa League after they crashed out of the Champions League, having finished 3rd behind Benfica and PSG.
